Conversion Table 2: Divine Rank by HD/Levels

Conversion Table 1: Divine Rank by Comparisons

The following five feats are from the Bestiary. However, two in particular Automatic Metamagic Capacity and Metamagic Freedom are important because they give a tantalising glimpse of the new magic system within the Grimoire section of the Immortals Handbook.

While I had hoped to introduce these at the proper time, I found statting some of the monsters within the Bestiary next to impossible using the current method of Improved Spell Capacity feats which just led to far too much complexity for much too little pay off. So I was forced to inject this prematurely.

The benefits of this system are simplicity, brevity and they preserve the worth of 0th-9th-level spells regardless of how high powered your campaign ascends.

Whats presented here are the bare bones of the system. The final work adds new types of dimensional magic (and how to combine dimensional magics) and dozens of powerful spells that cannot be accomplished by 9th-level magic and not merely extensions of existing spells that have just been powered up (such as annihilation, commandment, divine blast etc.).

Automatic Metamagic Capacity [Epic]
You can cast spells that exceed the normal limits of spellcasting.
Prerequisties: Ability to cast spells at the normal maximum spell level in at least one spellcasting class, four metamagic feats.
Benefit: When you select this feat you gain +1 free spell level of metamagic which you can apply to any spell you can cast.

eg. A 26th-level Wizard with x3 Automatic Metamagic Capacity feats could cast all their spells as if they were maximised, without increasing the level of the spell slots required.

It also stacks with existing metamagic deployment.

eg. A 26th-level Wizard with x3 Automatic Metamagic Capacity feats could maximise an empowered delayed blast fireball (9th-level spell slot).

Special: This feat stacks, each time it is taken you gain an additional +1 free spell level of metamagic.

This feat is suggested as the replacement for the following list of existing epic feats:
• Automatic Quicken Spell
• Automatic Silent Spell
• Automatic Still Spell
• Improved Spell Capacity
The various automatic quicken/silent/still spell feats are unbalanced. Improved Spell Capacity becomes more pedantic the higher in power you become, while in addition progressively alienating more and more lower level spells.

eg. A 30th-level wizard with Automatic Quicken Spell (x2) and Improved Spell Capacity (x3) should have them replaced by Automatic Metamagic Capacity (x5).

Heavy Armor Mastery [Epic]
You are unimpeded by wearing heavy armor.
Prerequisites: Light Armor Mastery, Medium Armor Mastery, Str 35.
Benefit: You suffer no negative penalties for wearing heavy armor.
Special: Add 10 to the strength prerequisite for each size category beyond medium.

Light Armor Mastery [Epic]
You are unimpeded by wearing light armor.
Prerequisites: Str 25.
Benefit: You suffer no negative penalties for wearing light armor.
Special: Add 10 to the strength prerequisite for each size category beyond medium.

Medium Armor Mastery [Epic]
You are unimpeded by wearing medium armor.
Prerequisites: Light Armor Mastery, Str 30.
Benefit: You suffer no negative penalties for wearing medium armor.
Special: Add 10 to the strength prerequisite for each size category beyond medium.

Metamagic Freedom [Epic]
You can stack the same metamagic feat multiple times.
Prerequisties: Four metamagic feats, Spellcraft 24 ranks.
Benefit: You can apply the same metamagic feat any number of times to the same spell, provided you have enough spell slots.

eg. With this feat you could use a 9th-level spell slot to triple empower a fireball spell (for +150% damage).

Normal: Without this feat you can only apply the same metamagic feat once to a single spell.

In the wake of this feat the following feats become redundant:
• Improved Heighten Spell
• Intensify Spell
• Multispell
Improved Heighten Spell should be unnecessary if you already have Heighten Spell. Intensify Spell is simply a combination of two applications of empower spell and one application of maximise spell. Multispell is simply two (or more) applications of quicken spell.
The first of the above feats should be replaced with Metamagic Freedom and any others by Automatic Metamagic Capacity.

eg. A 30th-level Wizard has Improved Heighten Spell, Intensify Spell and Multispell. These should be replaced by Metamagic Freedom and Automatic Metamagic Capacity (x2).

It is also suggested that the following epic feat be removed altogether:
• Improved Metamagic.
