Converting
the Elder Evils
Base Conversion (Direct from the Table)
- Atropus = Level 18 Solo Brute
- Father Llymic = Level 15 Solo Brute
- Hulks of Zoretha = Level 22 Soldiers
- Aspect of Leviathan = Level 13 Solo Brute
- Mind Shard of Pandorym = Level 20 Solo
Controller
- Ragnorra = Level 15 Solo Lurker
- Aspect of Sertrous = Level 18 Solo Artillery
- Kyuss = Level 16 Solo Soldier
- Zargon = Level 15 Solo Brute
Okay, at this juncture we are looking at a bunch of
Paragon Tier wannabe Elder Evils. But a few things of note. A number of
them are Aspects (Leviathan, Sertrous), while a few others are incomplete
or lesser versions of their true selves (Atropus, Pandorym) even though
its not mentioned within their names. We also have a few more hnts at
their true power - we know Kyuss is a Demigod and that Zargon battled
with Asmodeus.
Examining the goals of each Elder Evil we can better
get a grasp on its inferred power.
Goals of the Elder Evils...
- Atropus = Destroy all life
- Father Llymic = Usher in a new ice age
- Hulks of Zoretha = Destroy all (Non-Zorethan)
life, the vanguard of an invasion.
- Leviathan = Monster of Legend, possible
goal to destroy Canaanite Pantheon of Gods.
- Mind Shard of Pandorym = Re-unite mind
with body, kill all the gods.
- Ragnorra = Remake the world in her image.
- Sertrous = Swell the power of the Yuan-ti.
- Kyuss = Usher in the Age of Worms
- Zargon = Conquer the world, destroy/subjugate
the devils.
My own theory on Aspects, Avatars and Exarchs is that
an Aspect is 20 levels loewr than the true form, while the Avatar is 10
levels lower. Exarchs are sort of surrogate Avatars. Note that (as seen
in the above table), something that is a 20 level lower solo monster would
only be a 3 level lower minion, or an 11 level lower standard monster
or a 15 level lower elite monster.
As such we can perhaps piece together the following:
- Avatar of Atropus = Level
33 Solo Brute...the real Atropus is the Moonlet.
- Father Llymic = Level
30 Solo Brute...puts him in the Demigod range which seems appropriate.
- Hulks of Zoretha = (5)
Level 28 Elite Soldiers...I increased their levels by 10 just to make
them a true world threat.
- (True) Leviathan = Level
33 Solo Brute...almost puts it in the sort of Cosmic Afterbirth category
potentially of the Canaanite Pantheon, though I do find Lotan a bit
more interesting.
- Pandorym = Level 40 Solo
Controller...difficult to get a handle on this entity, but I think placing
the being in the upper Greater God bracket is appropriate. That puts
it just shy of the imprisoned Elder Ones.
- Ragnorra = Level 35 Solo
Lurker...evil Avatar of Mother Earth?
- Sertrous = Level 33 Solo
Artillery...Sertrous may be a threat to even Demon Princes if he arises,
but his write-up doesn't put him into a sort of Greater Power category,
so I reduced him by 5 levels.
- Kyuss = Level 31 Solo
Soldier...I tweaked Kyuss by 5 levels to get him into the Demigod range
(27-31 for Solo Monsters).
- Zargon = Level 35 Solo
Brute...wait until you see my Asmodeus* in Gods & Monsters. ;-)
